Safari Blue
A full day by dhow from Fumba: sandbanks, snorkelling, a mangrove lagoon and a seafood barbecue on the beach.
Fumba is on the south-west coast, which is why this runs when the east coast is flat at low tide and nothing else does. The dhow is a real one, sailed rather than motored where the wind allows. The lagoon at Kwale is mangrove on three sides and you swim into it through a channel; the sandbank it stops at afterwards is underwater six hours later. Expect to be on the water most of the day and to come back sunburnt if you forget about it.
