Snorkelling alongside juvenile whale sharks feeding off the west coast. Wild animals, so never guaranteed, but Mafia is the most reliable place in the region.

Whale sharks feed off the west coast of Mafia between October and March, and unusually for the species they stay in one place rather than passing through. They are wild animals so nothing is guaranteed, but Mafia is the most reliable place in Tanzania to get in the water with one. You snorkel, never scuba, which is the rule that keeps them coming back.
